πŸ“Š [Picking a month] 12 months ranked, and only 4 answers?

A quiet month sounds like a property of the month. Most of the time it is a count of how many days off happened to land there. Strip out the public holidays, the school breaks and the weekends, and rank what is left.

We ranked the months only after taking every day off out of the pool. Across the 446 plain weekdays that survive, July is lowest at Easy and November highest at Fairly busy. Yet the 12 ranked months resolve into just 4 words. Those days average Normal, below the yearly figure of Normal.

The chart averages the 446 days left after public holidays, school breaks and weekends come out. Saturday and Sunday have no bars because they are excluded from the comparison, not because they are quiet. Monthly figures drop any month with fewer than 10 recorded days, then pool the same month across years. Both the monthly and the weekday numbers are our forecasts averaged out, not attendance.

πŸ“Š Strip the days off and 4 words cover the year!

Take out public holidays, school breaks and weekends and 446 days remain, 62% of the calendar. What is left is the month itself, with the count of days off removed.

On those days July is lowest at Easy and November highest at Fairly busy. But put the 12 months into words and there are only 4.

The order is real; the spacing is not. We fitted the sequence to measurements, never the distance between one month and the next.

πŸ“… Pick the month and the weekday is still there!?

Only the days off came out; the weekdays stayed. Split the 446 days by weekday and Tuesday is lowest at Fairly easy, Monday highest at Normal.

The chart shows no weekend because the weekend is filtered out. However well you choose the month, this much movement is still waiting inside it. The weekday pattern itself is crowds by weekday.

πŸ† The top 3 months are interchangeable!

3 months share the lowest word: July, September, August. Ranking within that set is not information. Only the order was calibrated, and this is the width where order flips.

11 months appear twice, once per year, and every one of them lands on the same word both times. This is not one year's habit.

πŸ“– So what do you choose on!

When the rank ties, choose on the contents β€” and the monthly articles carry what this ranking leaves out. January is January, February is February, March is March, April is April.

The rest follow the same way: May is May, June is June, July is July, September and October share the autumn article, December is December.

🎯 Whose ranking is a weekday ranking?

Of the 32 busiest days in the year, 0 fall inside these 446 days. Removing the days off removes the peaks entirely.

What remains still runs from Easy to Busy, 4 levels apart. Ahead of today the quietest is Sep 15 (Tue) and the busiest Nov 2 (Mon).

So this is a ranking for people who can travel midweek. It is not a ranking for people who can only travel on holidays. Whether the month matters at all is settled first in crowds by month.
