πŸ“Š [Flexible dates] July vs November: how much does it change?

"Which month is quiet?" is the question we get most. Counted on plain weekdays, with public holidays and school breaks stripped out, the month matters about as much as the weekday β€” and the quiet ones are not the ones usually named.

The month matters about as much as the weekday. Compared on weekdays with public holidays and school breaks removed, the lowest, July, reads Easy and the highest, November, reads Fairly busy. The quiet ones are July, August, September; the busy ones are March, November, February. That order is set from two years of measured data on queue-times.com (Sept 2024 to Aug 2026, both parks).

This table counts only weekdays that are not public holidays and not inside a school break. Months with fewer than three weeks of coverage are left out, and so are months where almost every day sits inside a break β€” there is nothing left to compare. Nothing dropped out this time. What the bars show is a monthly average of forecast levels, not a count of visitors.

πŸ“Š Changing the month moves it two steps!

Strip out public holidays and school breaks, compare on weekdays, and the lowest month (July) reads Easy while the highest (November) reads Fairly busy β€” two steps apart.

That covers 24 months and 446 weekdays. Tuesday against Tuesday, Wednesday against Wednesday, it still moves that much. "Any month is the same" does not hold.

πŸ“ˆ The quiet months are July, August, September!

The lowest level belongs to July, August, September. The high end is March, November, February.

The busy list has a pattern. February into March is graduation-trip season in Japan; November into December is Christmas. Neither is a school holiday, yet both lift the ordinary weekday.

πŸ”‘ The month alone is not enough β€” read the weekday too!

Two steps from the month, two steps from the weekday. Neither one is enough on its own. A Friday in July climbs; a Tuesday in November drops.

What works best is a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday inside a quiet month. The weekday and the holiday runs each carry their own numbers.

🌑️ The quiet months are not the comfortable ones

The quiet months are July, August, September, but they are not alike. July still runs to 29Β°C; January tops out at 9Β°C and drops to 1Β°C. The queue is the same length either way; standing in it is not.

There is a second catch: January has 10 attractions closed for refurbishment, the most of any month we cover. Quiet months and refurbishment months tend to coincide. If comfort matters as much as the crowd, October and May are the pick β€” both in the low twenties.
