🌸 [Spring break visitors] Does the break hold 41% of the year's peak days?

Rank the school breaks by how hard they push the crowd and the spring one lands in the middle. It lifts the floor without erasing the dips underneath. Counted day by day, here is how far it pushes and where it stops.

We counted every day the model marks as spring break inside the forecast: 34 days. The window averages Busy against Normal for the year, 2 levels apart. 7 days still come in below the yearly average. Of the 32 busiest days in the year, 13 fall inside this window.

The table lists the 17 days still ahead, quietest first. These levels are what we expect of the window in advance, not results filled in afterwards.

🌸 Spring is the middle child of the school breaks!

The window averages Busy against Normal for the year, 2 levels apart. It lifts, but it does not break away.

In our model the winter break overwrites the level of the day outright, and the summer break carries no weight at all. Spring is the only break that works by adding to the day underneath it.

The two ends of that ranking are winter break crowds and summer break crowds. Treat all three as one thing called a school holiday and this difference disappears.

🔝 41% of the year's peaks stand inside it!?

The window is 5% of the calendar. Yet 13 of the 32 busiest days in the year (41%) fall inside it.

Its share of the peaks runs well ahead of its share of the calendar. Ahead of today, the busiest date is Mar 21 (Sun) at Packed.

📅 The floor rises, but does the weekday order?

The 22 weekdays average Fairly busy, the 12 weekend days Busy — 1 level apart.

Thursday is quietest at Fairly busy, Saturday busiest at Busy. The weekday effect does not switch off once the break starts.

The break raises the floor; the order of the weekdays stays exactly where it was. If your date can move, read the weekday first, even inside the holiday.

🌤️ There is still somewhere to escape to!

7 days (21%) land below the yearly average, and the quietest of them drops to Normal.

Ahead of today the quietest date is Apr 1 (Thu) at Normal. Choosing carefully still pulls the level down inside the same holiday. For the month that carries the tail of the break, April crowds goes further.

🏨 A busy break can still be a cheap night!

Within the window, 12 nights push room rates up and 22 nights pull them down.

The park level climbs across the break while plenty of nights get cheaper. The park reads whether today is a day off; the hotel reads whether tomorrow morning is. Park crowds and room rates takes that apart.
