🛎️ [Staying midweek] Only 106 of 446 weekday nights push room rates up?

othree / CC BY 2.0

Plenty of plans assume any weekday night is a cheap one. Strip out holidays and long breaks, count the weekdays that are left, and the rising side collects almost none of them — while the park splits the week somewhere else entirely.

Inside the working week, room rates split in two. Of the 446 days left after holidays and long breaks come out, 106 nights rise and 340 fall. Only Friday sits on the rising side; every other weekday falls. Sort the same days by park crowds and the line moves.

The table lists the falling nights still ahead — 249 of them — sorted by how quiet the park is. Only the first 40 are shown. Each park level is a forecast, not an attendance record.

🛎️ Friday is the only midweek night that rises!

Take out holidays and long breaks and 446 weekdays remain. Of those, 106 nights push rates up and 340 pull them down.

Only Friday lands on the rising side. Midweek rates are set by the weekday, not the date. Shift one night and the whole band flips.

🗓️ The park and the hotel cut the week in different places!?

By park crowds, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday run Fairly easy and Monday and Friday run Normal.

By room rates, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday fall and Friday rises. Same set of weekdays, two different lines.

Monday is heavy for the park and cheap for the hotel at the same time. Crowds by weekday covers the park side.

🤔 So is every weekday a cheap night?

106 rising nights survive inside the weekday set, and nearly all of them are Friday. Say "weekday" and that spike stays hidden.

Nights that are neither up nor down: 0. Our rate reading comes out as one side or the other. Move off Friday by a single night and the band changes.

🔑 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday give you both!

178 days are a falling night with a quiet park; 22 are a rising night with a busy one. The first group clusters on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

If the date can move, deleting weekdays beats hunting for dates. Cheap nights runs all seven nights including the weekend; Park crowds and room rates explains the gap.

If only long weekends work for you, the split changes shape. That one is Room rates inside a long weekend.
