π [Arriving late] Walk in at 15:00 and a short date costs you 50% of what is left?
An afternoon start sounds like half a day. What you actually get is decided by the closing time alone, because the opening time never moves. Every minute a short day takes, it takes off the back end. This article measures that length.
How long a date gives you is decided by the closing time alone. Opening sits at 09:00 and never moves, so a standard day runs to 21:00: 720 minutes. Early-closing dates are shorter, the shortest being 540 minutes. The gap is 180 minutes, and every one of them is at the back of the day.
The lengths are computed from operating hours published by ThemeParks.wiki (https://themeparks.wiki/), 696 entries from Mar 8, 2026 to Feb 18, 2027. We hold no entry times by ticket type, so the only question here is how many minutes a date is open. Levels in the figure are predictions, not counts.
π A standard day runs 720 minutes!
Gates at 09:00, the most common close at 21:00. That shape of day is 720 minutes, or 12 hours.
The opening side has never moved. So every difference in length comes out of the closing side. The opening time covers the half that stays put.
Which means the length of a date is readable from its closing time alone. Looking up the opening time tells you nothing at all.
β³ A short day cuts 180 minutes!?
The earliest close on record is 18:00. That day runs 540 minutes, which is 180 short of standard.
As a share, 25%. For someone using the whole day, that is the size of the loss. Days that close early counts how many such dates there are.
An evening built around 21:00 runs straight into those 180 minutes.
π€ Is "only 25% shorter" the wrong read?
Say you walk in at 15:00, the midpoint of a standard day. A standard date leaves you 360 minutes; the shortest one leaves 180.
The same 180 minutes cost a late arrival 50% of what was left. The cut only ever lands at the back, so whoever owns only the back pays all of it.
The later your start, the more it is worth checking the closing time first.
| Level | Land | Sea |
|---|---|---|
| Wide open | 25min | 30min |
| Easy | 40min | 45min |
| Fairly easy | 55min | 60min |
| Normal | 80min | 95min |
| Fairly busy | 95min | 110min |
| Busy | 120min | 140min |
| Packed | 135min | 155min |
Longest wait, roughly
π’ The crowd beats the clock!
Two dates of 720 minutes can be nothing alike inside. At the quietest level Disneyland tops out near 25 minutes; at the busiest, about 135 minutes.
A quieter date gets more done than a longer one. Crowds by weekday has the pattern counted.
Some days you are not short of hours β the queues are just long. The longest queues looks at those directly.
